Rhythm in Design, Colour in Music

Carvin Knowles' has been an artist and designer for as long has he has been a musician. For the entire length of these parallel careers, his goal has been to create design that is rhythmic and melodic while creating music that is colourful and balanced. As a result, both of his artistic disciplines have cross-pollenated into something beyond the boundaries of either.

During his eleven years at The Jewish Journal of Greater Los Angeles, he created over 500 full-colour, full-page illustrative covers in a fast paced newsroom envronment. In addition, he was creator of the graphical identity for the world's largest independent Jewish newspaper, including their banner logo.

Beyond his work at The Jewish Journal, his credits include CD album cover and packaging design, television (DVD) background design, movie posters, and publications.


Software Nuts & Bolts

While Carvin's general graphic design skills are excellent, his speciality for over 15 years has been using all aspects of Adobe© Photoshop, from simple colour correction and prepress to extreme compositing, special effects and illustration....and everything in-between. These skills extend to Adobe© Imageready, for web-based design. His layout and postcript skills include proficiency in Quark XPress© and athe Adobe© Creative Suite.


Residency Status

Carvin Knowles currently lives in Auckland, New Zealand. He has a current visa and work permit and is available for work immediately.
